| Well the fifth airing of Spectrum Obscure just finished and I think we're generally getting better as the weeks go by. I did fuck up twice (one minor, that actually ended up sounding cool and another.. well.. forgot a whole CD that was VERY important to the night... christ I suck).

| THE MONXOIDES! C'MON! THE HEELWALKERS
I could add Rock Ranger... but I only saw two songs, ahhahaah.
Friday night was the first three aformentioned bands... what a great night. What was supposed to be a sober night for "Rémi to save money to go to Halifax" ended up being free booze night for Rémi. Jay came over with a 16 pack and split it with me... already had a left over Colt 45 which is all I was planning to drink... once I got to the bar... lemme think... I know Nate bought me a beer, and Ian (from C'Mon) gave me a shot of something. I also bought myself 2 beers, but I know I had at least 5... anyways, super drunk, came back home, Jon Bruhm, Chris Smith, and the boys from Big Game Hunt crashed at my place. Ended up drinking (whoever's beer was in the fridge) on the back porch with them till 5am.
Next day just got better... the 10am wake up might have been the low point of the day, that and the rain, but it was immediately followed by a beer, and a trip to the manhattan for breakafast, which was yummy. Chris, Jon and I took off for Halifax immediately following this and got in town around 4pm. I called up Jenn and we met up downtown. Jon gave me some good directions, but not knowing the city and having a slight headache, I managed to get sidetracked a bit... ended up at the same place, just had to focus for a bit and remember where I was, hahahaha.
Jenn bought me to two record stores, CD Plus and Random Play, where I picked up 5 CDs... Captain Beefheart, Melvins, Comets on Fire, TV On The Radio and Secret Chiefs 3. Good fings, great prices... I really liked Random Play... not as much selection as CD Plus, but it seemed to be a cooler place. I'd go back to both if I was in town though. I couyld have spent 1000$ easy.
Like an ass, I spent too much money and wasn't able to pay Jenn supper as I'd promised, but we still got a bite to eat at a place called Maxwell's Pub. They had over EIGHTY beers on tap! How sweet is that?! I had a guiness of course, yumma dumb dumb. Had apoutine to eat which was pretty fuycking mediocre, but htey had free peanuts so it made up for it. 45 min. and a few peanut fights later and we were on our way... liquor store next if I recall. I still had a colt 45 left over so I just picked up 2 guinnesses and headed over to her place for some pre "pre-show party" drinking (this makes sense if you read it right, hahahaha).
Once her friend girlcunt showed up (Jason Boiduk), we headed over to Leah's place for the pre-show party and drank some more.. pictures were taken, laughs were had, hugs were given (I'm a sweetheart, and everyone knows it).
I was pretty hammered at this point... and heading out to the bars didnt help. The bar is open till 3:30 so by the time C'mon went onstage at 2am, I was hammered off my ass, Jenn had laready barfed in the parking lot and I needed some air. I managed to stay inside for most of C'Mon's set, heading out once they started their encore. Only shitty part about going for air at the end of the night is the bouncers wont let you back in... I think Jenn was worried about me and got pissed when she finally found me standing outside on the side of the building listening to some tunes. I was too drunk and tired to explain to her that I wasn't able to get back in and just said "I'm tired" when she asked if I was ok. She told me to go find Jon cause he was looking for me and left with Pineau. Thankfully given my "locked out" situation, I didn't have to wait too long, as Jon saw me passing back and forth outside the main door, hehehe.
Jon and I walked across the infamous commons to get to his place, which I realised is a pretty quick shortcut... crahsed as soon as Igot there... got up at 10am and, once again, with some helpful directions from Mr. Bruhm, I was on my way back home... an hours walk later and I was actually out of town and ready to be on my way... 45 min. later I finally get a drive and I'm ACTUALLY on my way. Gto dropped off in Truro and from there got a drive almost right away straight to the crystal palace exit. Second group to pick me up were three stoners who got high the whole time... they were sorta dicks so I gave them some really bad directions to where they were going, mwahahahaha.
Rest of the evening was relaxing time for moi, so that's what I did, fuck all. Listened to my new TV On The Radio CD, did a little work for the show and played some Earthbound.
well... that's about it... my first long boring pointless rant in a while, but I figured this weekend was special, so I'd bore everything with pointless details. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| A long month w/out any real kind of post and I'm sure I could go on for a long time, but I'll try to keep this one on the short side of things.
I got a new job
...sadlly, it doesn't pay enough
But I get more than enough hours
... but who really wants 'em?
I met new friends
...nothing bad to say here.
Going on a road trip!
... but Eric can't come.
He's finally quite at the horward johnson
,,, not in the way he planned, which is sad.
He's now working at the pumphouse, which is cool
...working still sucks.
I get to see The monoxides, C'mon and The Heelwalkers twice!
Holy crap will that ever rock!
Radio show is going great, had matt blanchard and doobs one week, and JP and Jesse from Heimlich the next show
... we all got locked out one week though
Thankfully the Heimlich boys were awesome and came back again. We had a blast!
September should find the show online, which will give us that many more listeners
... I'm still not the best radio host yet... bear with me though, I think I'm getting better.
Jerome, Terry and I have been drinking what could be considered too much
.... for some this may be a bad thing.
Terry tried to stop drinking
,,, what was he thinking?
Jerome's back with Jess. I'm not sure if this is a good thing, but I've always liked Jess, so let's hope it turns out well.
... I'm not sure she's always liked me.
Ok... maybe this is getting a little long, but I'm having fun with it!
I'm gone. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |

| Just got back from By Divine Right (ROCK!), The Peter Parkers (AND!), and The Pale Marys (ROLL!) and what a fucking great time that was! All three bands were great... the peter parkers put on a slightly short set, and didn't play any of my three favs from their new album... so I was semi-dissapointed. The Pale Marys were fantastic as always, and I'm sad they're moving to Halifax... won't be able to see them much after this fall.
It was my first time seeing By Divine Right, and holy crapola, do they ever know how to put on a great live show. A bit of everything for everyone, some sing along songs, some fucked up noise jams, psychedelic space rock tunes, rock n roll songs, even a slightly bluesy number where the singer talks about being native (and not white)... and had a great line "The Ice Age Is Coming And I Ain't Got No Beer"
As of tomorrow, I'm back at my parents for a few days.... first time in over 6 months.. .figure I owe them a visit since my mom is really helping me out financially right now... that and I do miss being back home. It's the summer splash, so I'll probably end up getting tanked. I talked to Kevin McIntyre from Test Tone Channel, and he said he and Gino would be up for it, and that we should check out his camp site after the party for a post-party fireside drinking+music session. I'm up for that!!
Anyways, cyas all next week sometime. have a good weekend... I'm pretty sure I will :) | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |

| So Jerome and I just finished typing up our little presentation for Jason tomorrow. I'm meeting him at 2pm at the radio station to "present our case". With Bones help, we already have a foot in the door, we essentially just have to show him we're really serious about putting on a great quality show and that we're not just looking to fuck around. I'm pretty excited about it and can't wait to see if we actually get a show. Most of the people in local bands that I've talked to are excited about it too... some have even applauded my tenacious support of the local scene, which really made me feel good about doing it all. Makes all the social butterflying I do worth while, hehehe.
What else happened today... ummm.. went out for coffee with Nate, and then we hung out at my place for a little while while I showe dhim some new music. Not sure what he thought about all of it... seemed to be digging some, but he didnd't really outright say any specfic was great. Brig showed up for a few minutes while she was dowtown.. she had gone to get her paycheck and went to grab a bite to eat. I probably would have gone with her but I was pretty low in funds and had to save it for supper that day.
Once they took off, I went down to highfield to grab some resumes Jerome had printed out for me and I headed off to do some applying. I ended up only applying two places... Sobeys and Mega Wrap. As I was walking downtown, I stopped by to see Jackie at Rye's, who was just finishing work, and she offered me a drive to the mall, which was where I was heading in the first place, so I gladly accepted. She was also kind enough to lend me the new Ron Sexsmith CD which, for the most part, is really good. There's one song I didn't care for at all that really stuck out... but I didn't check which track # it was.
My goal for the day was to get to the mall and hook up with Sonia, whom I was treating to a birtday supper. I stopped by Frank's to talk with Mark Gaudet for a bit and dropped by at Future Shop to say hi to Joe, and then headed over to Wal-Mart to see Sonia. She wasn't done till 5:30 so I talked with her and her co-workers for a while, and walked around some more.
When she was finally done, we walked over to Pastallis for supper. Nice atmopshere, good food, nice company... all around, a greatly enjoyable evening. Once the eating part was done (w/ dessert and everything) we just sat and talked for about an hour and a 1/2. It wa skinda strange cause once I paid, the waitresses didn't even pay attention to us, didn't ask if we wanted something to drink or anything, so we just talked away at our little table on their deck area.
After that I just walked her to her bus and then headed home... as previously mentioned, Jerome and I worked on the radio show.. and I sat at the computer as usual. If not the most productive day ever, it was still a very wonderful one all around. Best one I've had in a while.
Well, time for me to get the fuck to bed... gotta get up to meet with some dude who's delivering a washer and dryed from Terry's dad, and hopefulyl have some coffee with Cat if she manages to get up early and come over before work... and then it's off to UdeM to meet with Jason. Wish me Luck!!

| As usual, I've sassed out on LJ for a few days now.. but at least I have some sort of excuse. I have been pretty busy with moving and getting settled in. I guess I COULD have written in the past 2 or 3 days, but yeah... I'm lazy... so too bad :-P
Moving in wasn't too bad... went smoothly enough. We did move Jean's couch, which we later found out that he wanted to keep, so he moved it back when Luc moved his stuff in... and then he decided that he might not need it afterall, but he wants to wait till fall when Eric moves in with them.
We just got the kitty last night! YAY! Dr. Strangelove seems to be taking to the new place well enough... he was a little freaked out at first, and still looks a little nervous, but he recognises the peoeple, so that helps him quite a bit I imagine. We had a whole lot of trouble getting him here, cause while we were getting the last few things together at the other place, he ran outside and hid under the porch... took me like 45 min. to finally catch him. Terry and Jean tried to help... but in the end, I just sat around till he crawled out right next to me enough so I could grab him... boring waiting games cause of the stupid minou! :-P
Yesterday was Sonia's bday! She didnt do anything special for it, but did get a thread started about her on Moncton Locals and I e-mailed the MMS list about it, hehehe. I'll be bringing her out for supper on thursday, should be pretty fun. I have a present I want to buy for her... but it's not in yet... hope I can get it by tomorrow... we'll see I guess.
I went to jam night last night though, w/ Sonia for the first time in a little while.. and it was a great one.... probably the best one since the first time I went. Every singel jam was amazing (except maybe one which was only good). I guess the UdeM percussions teacher showed up... I didn't know who the guys was, cause he looked like an aging hippy who just walked off the streets (Im sure I'm not too far off with the aging hippy comment, but he looked like a bum, not a university professor with a PhD, hahahah).
Anyways... unemployed again... so today is job hunting day. I've already applied a few places that I really hope call me back, but I have to apply a few more just in case I don't get called in. I'm happy I'm not working the superstore anymore, cause that was just too far away for too little money... and not enough hours.
Oh yeah! I should (hopefully) be meeting with Jason Doiron, the UdeM radio coordinator this week to talk about a possible show. I'm pretty pumped up about it, and I'll have to discuss it with Jerome a bit more, so he knows exactly what we'll be about. I want him as a co-host cause I know he knows enough about music, but he has to realise that some of the grunt work (tracking down bands/music, etc.) will have to be done by him too, not just myself... we'll see how it goes I guess. I really hope I can make this work out, cause it would be pretty amazing.
Well, I'm out for today. I'll keep you guys updated on what's going on :)

| Well, in the midst of moving... mainly painting and cleaning done till now. I've brought down a few boxes of crap to the new place, but nothing serious yet... still have my bed, PC, etc. at my house. We wanted to rent a U-Haul, but they're full for the next few days, so we'll have to call around a few places and see if we can get a truck or something... or try to get in touch with a guy we know who has one.
Anyways, I can't wait till we're moved and settled in... it's a pain in the ass, especially cause we weren't really prepared for it at all. A whole lot of problems with the landlord already (the super told us we couldnt move in cause the landlord wanted to check the place out/fix any problems/clean, etc. but the landlord thought we were already there, so she never did anything... so we're stuck doing it all... she better fucking pay us nicely for it too, cause it'll be a good two days of work, at 4-5 people).
I ended up calling in sick today to be able to clean and paint... my bosses were not impressed, but whatever, it needed to get done, and it' snot like I'm getting paid enough to worry about getting fired... there's a 100 dif. jobs out there that pay the same rate... and most are probably closer to where I live.
Of course, I ended up spending my "hard earned" money on cDs.. Picked up Death - The Sound of Perseverance and Modest Mouse - Building Something out of Nothing. Very happy with my findings. I WAS going to pickup The Clash - London Calling, but I realised work hadn't paid me yet, so I couldn't afford it.
After Spin It (where I go the two CDs), I went to eat at Rye's, and got the see the always lovely Jackie, and make fun of her while she worked, hahaha. She said I was trouble... goddamn bitch ... *doot doot, whistles innocently*, hahahaaha. She knows I love her :-P
After 2 days of trying to call her, I finally managed to get a hold of Catherine... cause their phone hadn't been working for whatever reason. Of course, like 3 times during the call the batteries in my phone died, so I kept switching from one to the other, LOL. It was pretty lame, but I wanted to finish the damn conversation!
Also saw Sonia at Wal-Mart when Jerome and I went to buy some painting/cleaning supplies. She's been offline quite a bit lately... finally catching up on her badly needed sleep cause of all the time she spends with me chating till 3am, ehhehee.
Seems like I saw just about everyone today, or at least, quite a few people.
Well, I feel the need to complain about how lonely I am sometimes, so before I turn into Joe, and go on about being lonely, but having all these people around, (HAHAHA, sorry dude! :-P) I'm gonna to go to bed.

I'm gone!

| Ah a day off! feels nice! And I actually have a bit of cash to do something with it! Well... not really, I overspent, as usual, but at least I had it to overspend, hahaha.
I had an "interview"/orientation session with Kelly Services this morning, so even if it was my day off, I couldn't sleep in. That was boring as all hell, but hopefully they can find me a good job sometime soon. As much as I don't mind my stupid job at the Superstore, it REALLY doesn't pay enough, and it's pretty far.
Eric had the same orientation crap this morning at his work, so we hooked up afterwards (at the library, woohoo!) and grabbed some food. Good ol' pumphouse. Decided to try the buffalo burger, which was actually pretty good.
Picked up some books while I was at the library... the Dalai Lama's autobiography, a book about some famous hacker, Kevin Poulsen, and a book on Pink Floyd called Sauceful of Secrets. Should be interesting. I HAVE to finish reading the Hitchhikers Guide before I jump into these... I'm so bad for just dorpping one and starting another... gotta drop that habit :-P I'm on the last 100 pages, so I'm going to try to finish it today/tomorrow.
Yesterday after work I hooked up with Brig at Spin It. Convinced her to buy The Monoxides - The Free Release of Energy, and I got The Monoxides's Out of the Marsh EP, Scene Killer, and Solarized's Driven for myself. Good little haul for moi.
I was happy, but things kinda went bad after that... as soon as I step out of the store, I sit down to chance the CD in my discman, so I sat down on the curb.. of course, I didn't realise that the cord from my headphones was under my foor, so when I stood up, I SNAPPED my headphones in half.... -40$ for Rémi.
In other news, Im meeting with Jason, the CKUM radio coordinator next week to talk about show ideas... gotta get some down on paper with Jerome, my co-host, tomorrow. I essentially wanted a variety show... focused on new music and local music, but "technically" that's what La Cravate Orange is about... yet they rarely play any local music, and NEVER talk about hte music itself... *sigh* So I have to get something down without trying to replace Shamus' show and w/out badmouthing it, cause I don't hate it... I just want to do something similar, but more focused on music, especially the local scene. I know most bands, and a large percentage on a personal level, so I think I could really do something good with it.
Anyways. we'll see what'll happen. I talked to DJ Bones, and he said he was going to try to help me out, since he knows I know what I'm talking about.
Tonight is L'Attack, which features members from Les Marmottes Applaties... should be a great rock n roll show. Heimlich is opening, with DJ Bones DJing the music in between. Hope to see some of you there! :D

| Time for another update of yee ol' Live Journal. What's new in my live... well, time to think about this, cause as much as I'd like to write out a long interesting paragraph about all the exciting things I've been up to, it'll probably end up being a long boring paragraph about all the nothing I've been doing.
Well, as usual, lots of sitting at home and chating (1/2 of this chating is probably done with Sonia, cause we both have no lives and spend way too much time in front of this infernal machine). Did I go see any shows last week? I can't seem to recall... *tries to remember*
Oh yes!! Thursday night was the Chris Leger benefit show which was quite a blast. I got there in time to the end of the Sound of Silence set, and caught the first song from the Stuntgun Proffesionals, who werne't too bad at all. Sonia and I were hungry so we decided to go get some Subway. I ended up missing the Treble Kings, but this didn't bother me since I'm going to be living "with them" (more on this later, even if I think I may have gone over it before). The rest of the night was spent filming bands for Don and getting them to say something for the camera about the night, or Chris, or anything they wanted. I got about 3/4 of the bands, which I was quite happy about. The only band I was able to film live was Heavy Doobie (SUCKS) cause I missed the queue to start... way to merge two of your songs together boys!! :-P
I worked friday morning and was pretty fucking tired after running around all night and only getting home at 1:30am. Friday evening we had a BBQ followed by Test Tone Channel. The BBQ was fun. Not that many people showed up, but hte people that did (Sophie, Joline, Catherine, Vero, Geoff, Shamus, Jerome, Brig, Terry, Shane) all seemed to have a good time. Shane, Vero and Geoff didn't come out to the show... neither did Joline actually, since her parents picked her up at the bar, right before it started. TTC were fucking amazing as usual, and played my request for Charter Plane. It's not quite the same w/out the fourth member, which I'm used to hearing on the CD, but I still love that song. They're playing again in 2 weeks... won't miss that for anything! I was pretty drunk too... Terry bought me a 6 pack of beer, and once I got to the bar... I bought another 6 or so. 12 doesn't generally get me that drunk, but I was pretty "happy" that night. Once the show was over, the super sweet Catherine gave me a drive home.
Speaking of whihc, I've been trying to plan an evening of movie watching with this little lady for the past week or so now and it always seems to fall through. I told her I'd call her today/tomorrow (wednesday), but she thought she may be heading down to Halifax... ah well, I'll call and see what's going on... hopefully we can manage something.
I just got back from jam night. Had to work today, 4-10pm, but it was hardly anything I'd call work. I had some pointless orientation class to go to and I only ended up working for the first hour... the rest was spent "learning" about work safety and the dif. kinds of abuse that happen. Boring, pointless crap that everyone knows about, but at least I didn't have to work. A co-worker gave me a lift home, so I was able to change and grab my regular bus downtown and make it out to the jam, where Eric, Sonia, Jerome and Brig were eagerly awaiting my arrival. I spent my last 6$ on a Guiness, cause I felt I should threat myself after a hard days work. Seb was kind enough to provide me with a beer ticket for a draft, which I rather enjoyed, and to add to the fun, Eric bought me a beer. The jams were great, the company was good, and I played footsies with Brig all night... all in all, a good evening, spent well among friends :-P
Tomorrow is my day off... Eric's supposed to come over around noon and we're going to watch the Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps DVD before he had to head off to work. Should be good.
I'm currently listening to the new King Crimson CD I picked up... Islands. It was the only one of the original 7 studio albums (their 70s material) that I hadn't heard, and it's certainly on par with the others. It's always the one I hear that people like the least from the bunch... but unless I get bored of it somehow, I really don't think I could pick a worse... and if I would... I don't know if many fans would like the answer I'd give, hahaha.
Other than that... not very much. Working my shitty produce job, spending the days stocking fruits and fucking vegetables... rather boring... well actually, most days it's not too bad, the work isn't fun, but it keeps me going.. and the days where we actually have stock and aren't worried about what we're going to put out, and it's sorta busy enough to keep me working, well, I just zone out and keep to myself, and that;s the way I like it. All these people are talking about how the Atlantic Superstore people are their second family cause the spend so much time there with those people... well I've held a few jobs in the past, and I've always tried my best to not get too friendly with co-workers. I'll chat, cause I have a big mouth and do a lot of talking, but other than rare exceptions, I wont make friends with them... leads to bad rumours/stories, and stupid fucking gossip that I want to stay out of as much as humanly possible. Let them know me as the shy chubby produce boy always listneing to his crazy music in the lunch room and reading a book... I'll be fine with that status.
Well... rant is done for moi... time to go listen to some tunes and chat with whoever is left online.... this was supposed to be shorter, as most of mine never are, but some people may have logged off which I was typing up this little novella :-P
